VAT Process: General Information

  • Q2: What are some reasons a job might be flagged for VAT after payment?

    • A: This could happen for several reasons, such as if the artwork is designed to be filled in (e.g., a form, certificate) or if the printed item is considered a voucher.
  • Q3: Where can I find official guidance on whether printed materials are VATable?

  • Q4: How can a client pay an outstanding VAT charge?

    • A: Clients have a few options:
      • Through their online account area by clicking ‘Pay VAT’.
      • Over the phone with the company.
      • Via PayPal, if the company sends them a PayPal invoice.
  • Q5: Is there anything special a client needs to do if paying VAT via PayPal?

    • A: Yes, the client must inform us once the PayPal payment has been made. We don't receive automatic notifications from PayPal when a payment is made.

VAT Payments

  • Q1: Can a client pay outstanding VAT online?

    • A: Yes. If a job is flagged for VAT after the initial order payment, the order status in their online dashboard should change to "Action Required." This status should allow them to click and pay the outstanding VAT online.

  • Q3: How are VAT payments handled if a client has VAT due on more than one item?

    • A: If a client has VAT due on multiple items, these must be processed as separate payments.

Do booklets with lamination on the cover require VAT?

No, adding lamination to the cover doesn't cause these to require VAT.
