What does the guide mean?
For our presentation folders guides there are two different colour lines which are:
Blue - The inner blue line is the trim area and the outer blue line is the bleed area.
Magenta/Pink - The fold lines to indicate where the folder will be folded. For interlocking folders this will be creased for the customers to put together on their end
The two blue diagonal lines on the flap is to show where slits will be made for customers to place their business cards into.
Depending on the product they order this will show either on the bottom flap or the flap on the side. They will appear as curves instead of straight lines if they order an interlocking folder with rounded tabs.
The little flap on the side of the folder is the glue tab, on the proof this area will always be left blank. We cannot put any print on this area due to the glue but no white should be shown once the folders have been put together. If the customer puts any artwork on in this area the studio team can place a white tab on top of this.
Please note this only on glued presentation folders
The blue horizontal line on the side panel is to indicate where the slit will be for customers to interlock their folder when putting it together.
Please note this only for interlocking folders
What will the proof show?
As with all of our proofs, they only show the trim size so they will not see any bleed that will be on the very edges of the proof.
Does the customer need to leave the template on?
No, we require the artwork without the template being on, if left on this will get printed and especially if they upload online we may not see this as our guides will overlay on top of it.
If the customer has left the guides and sent it over for a manual proof, we will try to remove them if we can’t then we will be going back to the customer to remove them. The main reason for us not being able to remove them is if the template is embedded in the artwork.
Common errors
One of the most common errors is customers ordering the wrong presentation folder, so if a customer is questions about why the size of the proof is different compare to the original artwork, 9 times out of 10 it is due to ordering the wrong product so please ask the customer what folder they think they order and check if the order on IPOP to see if the specs match.
