What is silk paper?

Silk is type of paper also known as “anti-matt” as it is considered a hybrid between a gloss and matt finish. The paper has a slight sheen to it but not a full gloss finish. People sometimes refer to silk as 'satin'.

We can only laminate on silk stocks 250gsm or heavier.

We can only fold up to 350gsm silk, 450gsm is too thick to fold.

Is silk paper made from silk fibres?

Silk coated paper is not necessarily made with silk fibres. The paper is coated in a liquid coating with is made up of chemicals that give the feel of silk to sight and touch.

What is uncoated paper?

An uncoated paper will be an absorbent paper stock, this is somewhat of a more traditional finish which will allow the ink to bleed into the paper giving rich full colours, these papers often have a textured finish due to their porous nature and give a great vintage feel. Uncoated stock can also be called “bond”. We can't laminate on this stock.

What is gloss paper?

A paper that has undergone extensive calendaring, will reflect the light primarily as parallel rays, or all in the same direction. This is what causes a paper surface to be shiny, or "glossy.“ Glossy stock has been historically popular, however is in somewhat of a decline since the introduction of silk paper. We can't laminate this stock.

What is Carte Lumina?

Carte Lumina is essentially a “proper” “traditional” Greetings Card stock, in that one side has a silky finish whilst the other side has an uncoated finish – making it perfect to have print one side but leaving the inside of the card suitable for writing. This stock can be single sided laminated.

What is a laser guaranteed stock?

This is a print method used so that the print is laser compatible for over printing, this is typically used on Letterheads.

Do we seal our stocks?

We only seal unlaminated business cards, nothing else.

Is our paper chlorine free?

Yes, see more information on this below:
