White lines on artwork or screen artefacts-How to check guide

I have thin white lines appearing on my artwork, will these print?

These sound like screen artefacts, which don’t print but it’s always better to check first.

There are a couple of ways you can check –

              1.  Zoom in and out of the PDF as sometimes they disappear. If this is happening       then the lines aren’t fixed to the artwork and won’t print.

              2. Ask them to check their PDF using the settings below in Adobe Acrobat-

Go to Edit – Preferences – General:

Ask them to untick the smooth line art and smooth images boxes and then check the artwork again. If the lines have disappeared then they are just screen artefacts and won’t appear on the final print.

              3. If you and the customer don’t have Adobe Acrobat to do the above check then ask Studio         to confirm if they will print.

TIP: Screen artefacts can appear when the customers artwork hasn’t been flattened down properly. If they don’t confidently want to approve their artwork with the white lines appearing then ask them to flatten the artwork (or save as a JPEG) and resend for another proof. This way the lines won’t appear at all.
